The Avalanche Foundation has introduced a physical and digital credit card that enables users to make purchases using their crypto assets wherever Visa is accepted.
Users can spend Avalanche tokens (Avax), wrapped Avax, and stablecoins like USDT and USDC at any participating in-person or online store. The Avalanche Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Avalanche blockchain network, has collaborated with the blockchain-based card-issuing platform Rain to launch this card, specifically targeting users in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America—regions characterized by “strained banking infrastructure.”
The foundation contends that the card will facilitate seamless real-world transactions across borders, allowing for conversionless spending and offering a secure alternative to traditional banking options.
“With the Avalanche Card, your cryptocurrency is a tool for empowerment,” stated John Wu, president of Ava Labs. “As digital assets gain mainstream adoption, we aim to provide uses as familiar as swiping a credit card.”
