Aussie Buy-to-Earn Startup Hello Clever Secures A$4.5 Million Funding

Hello Clever, an Australian ‘buy-to-earn’ startup that provides shoppers with real-time cashback, has successfully raised A$4.5 million in seed funding.

The funding round was led by Vectr Fintech Partners, with additional contributions from CrossFund, Yolo Investments, Magnivia Ventures, Son Tech Ventures, Boson Ventures, and several angel investors.

Established in 2021, Hello Clever operates as a payments and financial management platform designed for Australia’s Gen Z, positioning itself as an alternative to traditional debt-based BNPL (Buy Now, Pay Later) options.

At the core of Hello Clever is an API powered by Australia’s Payments Platform (NPP), along with the associated PayTo and PayID services. This technology enables the company to provide real-time cashback for customers shopping at participating merchants and allows users to monitor their spending across various bank accounts instantly.

Utilizing open banking, fast payments, and AI technologies, Hello Clever helps customers discover the best merchants to meet their needs while ensuring they receive rewards for their purchases.

Lead investor Mark Munoz commented, “We foresee Hello Clever expanding into Southeast Asia, particularly in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam. These regions offer large, youthful, and tech-savvy populations that could greatly benefit from a payment solution like Hello Clever.”
