The asset management sectors of the UK and Singapore have united under Project Guardian, an innovative cross-border initiative spearheaded by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, aimed at exploring blockchain applications.
The UK’s Investment Association (IA) and the Investment Management Association of Singapore (IMAS) are the inaugural domestic trade organizations to participate in this initiative, seeking to examine the possibilities of blockchain and asset tokenization. The coalition also includes various banks, asset management firms, and regulatory bodies, such as the Financial Conduct Authority.
This announcement reinforces the momentum behind Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) within the investment sector. The implementation of tokenization and digital assets promises to revolutionize the market by delivering operational efficiencies—eliminating intermediaries and broadening market access to a diverse range of investors.
Nevertheless, realizing these benefits hinges on the creation of scalable use cases alongside well-defined industry standards and frameworks.
