ANZ has made a strategic investment of $50 million for a minority equity stake in Pollination, a climate change investment and advisory group.
The collaboration between ANZ and Pollination will concentrate on addressing the transition needs of institutional clients, focusing on sustainable finance, project and export finance, carbon markets, and corporate advisory services, including mergers and acquisitions.
Mark Whelan, Group Executive of ANZ Institutional, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are excited to collaborate with a team that possesses extensive expertise in climate finance and investment, as well as strong relationships and commercial traction. These strengths, alongside ANZ’s established leadership in sustainable finance and debt capital markets, will create significant opportunities for our clientele.”
He added, “This partnership reinforces ANZ’s commitment to assist customers in their transition to net-zero emissions, while further solidifying our role as a prominent Environmental Sustainability bank in the region.”
Established in 2019, Pollination boasts over 120 professionals across 13 countries. The team has been instrumental in various decarbonization efforts and nature solutions, contributing to the development of the Paris Agreement and key negotiating coalitions within the UNFCCC, as well as participating in leadership roles within Australia’s national green finance and climate innovation organizations, such as Arena and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC).
