Amazon and Barclays have teamed up to introduce a co-branded credit card in the UK that offers a variety of perks for users.
The new card allows customers to earn rewards on their everyday spending, which can be redeemed for gift cards on Amazon.co.uk. Cardholders will receive 1% in rewards for all Amazon purchases, and for the first 12 months, they can earn 0.5% back on everyday spending outside of Amazon, dropping to 0.25% thereafter. Additionally, Amazon Prime members can benefit from 2% back on all Amazon spending during specific shopping events like Cyber Monday, Black Friday, and Prime Day.
Customers can easily track their rewards balance and redeem them for Amazon gift cards using the Barclaycard app. The card does not have an annual fee, and a £20 Amazon.co.uk gift card is offered upon approval of the application.
This Amazon Barclaycard marks the latest collaboration between Amazon and Barclays, following initiatives such as the ‘Instalments’ program in the UK, which allows customers to manage larger purchases over £100 through fixed monthly payments.
In a separate development, Banco Santander and Amazon have started to roll out a rewards-based Visa credit card for consumers in Germany.
