Singaporean mobile coffee ordering app Luckin Coffee has integrated with Alipay’s AI agent for seamless ordering and payments through a conversational interface.
In a chat with Lucky’s AI-based app, consumers can easily place their orders by simply saying “place order” after selecting their drinks. Following identity verification, payment is processed immediately within the conversation, simulating a natural interaction with a barista.
Previously, AI agents could assist with ordering, but users were redirected to a separate payment confirmation page. The new experience keeps the entire process within a single conversation.
This feature is now live in Luckin Coffee’s mobile app and its Alipay mini-program in China. It utilizes Alipay’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, introduced in April 2025, to support secure transaction capabilities within AI-driven applications, allowing merchants and AI developers to integrate Alipay’s payment services seamlessly.
