A Quick Glimpse at the Agenda

Finextra Research will host its second annual Financial Cloud Summit on March 7th, 2024, at King’s Place in London.

Next year’s conference will bring together a diverse group of leaders in the sector, with the agenda divided into what the Finextra community identifies as the three core stages of cloud usage:

1: Strategy
Forward-thinking financial institutions are using the cloud not only to enhance their IT capabilities but also to transform their overall business operations. The cloud offers various models and strategies that can be tailored to an organization’s specific needs, existing infrastructure, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.

Discussion topics will include:

  • Distributed cloud: how can cloud models be both spread out and cohesive?
  • BaaS, PaaS, and IaaS: how can cloud assist in navigating emerging concepts?
  • AI: how can cloud and data analytics facilitate the success of embedded finance?

2: Migration
Transitioning to the cloud enables financial institutions to adapt to current trends and maintain competitiveness. Banks must determine which processes to keep on-premises, migrate to the cloud, or distribute across multiple cloud providers, all while ensuring data integrity and staying ahead of fraud threats.

Panel discussions will focus on:

  • Multicloud and hybrid cloud: how can the cloud oligopoly be dismantled?
  • Automation: how can cloud environments be managed more effectively post-migration?
  • Security: how can predictive technology help detect fraud?

3: Optimisation
After migration, financial institutions need to continuously refine and enhance their cloud strategies to optimize commercial use cases. Recent regulatory updates have highlighted the importance of comprehensive security measures within the financial ecosystem that must be addressed by cloud solutions.

Key discussion points will include:

  • DORA: how can scalability, resiliency, and security needs be met through the cloud?
  • APIs: how can data be utilized to generate new revenue opportunities?
  • Technical talent: how can the developer community be actively supported?
