La Banque Postale Introduces ‘Impact’ Banking Card

La Banque Postale, in partnership with WWF France, has become the first traditional bank in France to introduce an impact bank card, which directs all deposits associated with the card towards financing the energy renovation of homes.

The impact card, made from recycled PVC, is limited to the first 100,000 customers in 2024/2025 and is available in the Visa Classic and Visa Premier ranges at standard rates. An additional €5 annual fee for the card will be entirely donated to WWF France.

Cardholders will have access to ongoing sustainability advice and complimentary services, including Carbo, a personalized carbon footprint simulator that analyzes spending, as well as a cashback program featuring offers related to responsible consumption.

In 2023, La Banque Postale launched its first impact home loan offering, designed to facilitate energy renovation work for homebuyers by removing barriers to financing. Deposits from impact card accounts will help accelerate the development of these loans.

Vincent Menvielle, marketing director at La Banque Postale, stated: “The launch of this impact card, developed in collaboration with our partner WWF France, represents a significant step in La Banque Postale’s strategy for a just transition. It allows our customers to contribute to the energy transition by channeling their deposits into our impact real estate loans, while also supporting an NGO focused on biodiversity projects.”
