Lloyds’ Barcode Cash Deposit App Feature Gains Popularity

Lloyds has reported that its barcode cash paying-in app feature, launched in August, has facilitated over £3 million in deposits at PayPoint locations.

Customers can access the feature by navigating to the ‘Everyday’ section of the app, where they can generate a barcode to deposit up to £300 per day in cash at more than 3,000 PayPoint stores. Additionally, Lloyds is now allowing customers to use their debit cards for cash deposits.

With 99.5% of individuals living within a mile of a PayPoint store, this feature aims to provide a convenient solution amidst the ongoing reduction of branch networks. In 2024, Lloyds announced plans to close 292 branches in 2025, following the earlier decision to shut down 61 Lloyds, 61 Halifax, and 14 Bank of Scotland branches between May and March of the following year.

Gabby Collins, Payments Director at Lloyds, stated: “Whether it’s through our app or with a card, customers can pay in notes and coins at thousands of local PayPoint locations. We’re making it easy for people to manage their money, whenever and wherever it works for them.”
