The UK and US governments have established a joint transatlantic taskforce aimed at fostering collaboration on digital asset initiatives.
Formed under the leadership of the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer and the US Treasury Secretary, the Transatlantic Taskforce for Markets of the Future is tasked with examining potential partnerships in capital markets and other innovative financial activities related to digital assets.
The taskforce is expected to provide recommendations to both finance ministries for short- to medium-term collaborations in the evolving landscape of digital asset legislation and regulatory frameworks. Additionally, it will explore long-term strategies and identify opportunities for innovation in wholesale digital markets.
Another key focus will be enhancing the connectivity between the capital markets of the UK and the US, particularly by alleviating the challenges faced by firms seeking to raise capital across borders. Chaired by officials from HM Treasury and the US Treasury, the taskforce includes representatives from relevant regulators overseeing capital markets and digital asset regulations. It aims to gather insights from industry experts and is expected to deliver its findings within 180 days.
