EasyJet Founder Unveils New Bitcoin App

The founder of easyJet, Stelios Haji-Ioannou, is venturing into the cryptocurrency space with the launch of the easyBitcoin app. Developed in partnership with Uphold, a leader in on-chain finance infrastructure, this app aims to simplify and reduce the costs associated with buying, selling, and holding Bitcoin, while also providing users with opportunities to earn rewards on their balances.

Initially available in the United States, the app plans to expand to the UK later this year. This initiative marks the latest project from easyGroup, the private investment firm owned by Haji-Ioannou, who gained prominence in the 1990s with his low-cost airline.

Haji-Ioannou emphasizes his goal of making Bitcoin investment more accessible. He states, “For too long, investing in Bitcoin has felt like an exclusive club, out of reach for the general public due to steep transaction fees. With the easyBitcoin app, we aim to change that by providing easy access through mobile devices, offering great value, and focusing on earning Bitcoin rewards whether you’re purchasing or simply holding.”

Supporting this initiative, research from Opinion Matters reveals that Bitcoin is increasingly viewed as a legitimate investment. The survey indicates that 88% of US adults believe Bitcoin will appreciate in value over the next decade, with 39% considering it among their top three investment options.
