Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited is set to introduce the HKEX Sustainable and Green Exchange, known as ‘Stage,’ a comprehensive platform designed to centralize data and information on socially responsible investment opportunities in Asia.
Scheduled for launch later this year, Stage will grant investors access to a curated database of sustainable and green investment options available within Hong Kong’s securities markets. Additionally, it will serve as an educational and advocacy platform, fostering knowledge sharing and stakeholder engagement in the realm of sustainable finance.
Grace Hui, head of green and sustainable finance at HKEX, emphasized the initiative’s significance: “By motivating issuers, investors, asset managers, market participants, and advisors to actively enhance the sustainable finance ecosystem in Hong Kong and the broader region, we are reinforcing the sustainability of our market.”
The objective is to elevate awareness of sustainable financial products among issuers while providing investors and asset managers with streamlined access to vital information for due diligence, selection, and monitoring.
In its initial phase, Stage will host a repository focusing on sustainability, green and social bonds, and ESG-related Exchange-Traded Products listed on HKEX. Issuers whose products adhere to international standards and provide annual post-issuance reports can join Stage at no cost and showcase their offerings on the platform.
Looking ahead, HKEX plans to broaden the range of covered asset classes and product types, incorporating derivative products related to pertinent sustainability and environmental, social, and governance indices.
