NatWest has partnered with Microsoft to assist its business clients in minimizing their carbon footprints.
Scheduled to launch later this year, this initiative will leverage Microsoft’s advanced cloud, data, and AI capabilities, combined with NatWest Group’s expertise and rich client relationships.
In the research phase, the bank surveyed 500 diverse business customers to gain insights into their struggles with achieving climate objectives. The results revealed that 88% of respondents find it challenging to obtain external support for reducing their indirect emissions, particularly those occurring within their supply chains. Moreover, 41% indicated that tackling these indirect emissions felt ‘very challenging’ or ‘incredibly challenging.’
For those businesses yet to embark on their sustainability journey, the primary obstacles identified include insufficient information, lack of data, and limited resources or funding.
Alison Rose, CEO of NatWest, emphasizes, “Addressing climate change is one of the foremost challenges of our era. As the UK’s leading bank for businesses, we bear a significant responsibility and have the capability to guide and support the transition to a net-zero carbon economy.”
