The BIS Innovation Hub, in collaboration with the Bank of Italy, is hosting a virtual hackathon to explore innovative technological solutions in the realm of green and sustainable finance.
This TechSprint event aligns with Italy’s G20 Presidency and invites private sector firms to propose green tech solutions targeting three key operational challenges:
– Efficient data collection, verification, and sharing
– Comprehensive analysis and assessment of transition and physical climate-related risks
– Enhanced connections between projects and investors
Participants have until May 31 to submit their applications, with a shortlist to be announced on June 14. A workshop will be held in August to present prototypes, and cash prizes will be awarded to the winners in October.
Benoît Cœuré, head of the BIS Innovation Hub, emphasizes the initiative’s ambition: “The G20 TechSprint 2021 aims to inspire global action by motivating individuals to develop practical solutions that address challenges in sustainable finance.”
The momentum for green finance continues to build, as evidenced by the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s announcement of the sixth edition of its Global FinTech Hackcelerator, centered around the theme “Harnessing Technology to Power Green Finance.”
