UBS Partners with Communications Compliance Platform Shield

UBS has participated in a $20 million Series B funding round for Shield, a cutting-edge workplace intelligence platform designed specifically for compliance teams within financial services.

This funding round, led by Macquarie Capital, also saw contributions from UBS Next, Mindset Ventures, and OurCrowd. This follows Shield’s earlier $15 million Series A round earlier this year, reinforcing its growth trajectory.

Shield’s innovative platform leverages artificial intelligence and natural language processing to assist regulated financial institutions in detecting market abuse, conducting behavioral analysis, and mitigating negative workplace culture. Additionally, it automates surveillance across all employee communication channels, resulting in significant savings on operational and compliance costs.

The new investment will support the company’s expansion in existing markets and facilitate entry into new ones, including the United States. Furthermore, Shield plans to establish a second research and development facility in Lisbon.

Shiran Weitzman, CEO of Shield, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with UBS, stating, “We’re excited to collaborate with UBS on various fronts—not only as a client but now as an investor in our recent funding round. This emphasizes the strong market demand for a modern, proactive solution that enhances surveillance across communication channels, affirming Shield’s readiness to fulfill this critical need.”
