Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is set to incorporate facial verification technology from PopID into its point-of-sale (POS) and self-service offerings.
PopID’s innovative PopPay technology allows customers to authenticate their identity for payments using AI-driven facial recognition software. This integration aims to enhance the customer experience across various sectors, including restaurants, convenience stores, grocery stores, and other retail environments.
A notable implementation will feature PopPay biometric cameras integrated into the Toshiba Pro-X Hybrid Kiosk. Customers who choose to participate can scan their items using the Pro-X scanner and then select the PopPay option on the screen. This process allows for facial recognition to authenticate loyalty programs and payments, eliminating the need for cards or smartphones.
Rance Poehler, CEO of Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to partner with PopID to bring speed, ease of use, and convenience to retailers and their customers.”
