Standard Chartered Introduces GenAI Tool Globally

Standard Chartered is set to introduce a cutting-edge Generative AI tool, named SC GPT, to over 70,000 employees across 41 markets globally. This initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency and improve client engagement within the organization.

The implementation of SC GPT is anticipated to significantly boost productivity by refining the bank’s approach to sales and marketing, thereby increasing revenue streams. Additionally, it is expected to facilitate greater automation in software engineering and enhance the measurement, management, and reporting of risks.

A more personalized version of SC GPT is in development, enabling the bank to leverage group data for tailored problem-solving specific to its operations. Local teams will also have the opportunity to utilize SC GPT to create customized solutions that cater to market-specific demands, including digital marketing, translation services, and customer support.

Bill Winters, Group Chief Executive of Standard Chartered, remarked, “Our unique strategy positions us to harness the transformative potential of Generative AI in various areas, particularly in cross-border and affluent banking. By responsibly integrating GenAI, we are enhancing efficiencies, revolutionizing our service delivery, and solidifying our standing in the digital banking landscape. This initiative marks the beginning of our ongoing commitment to innovation and delivering lasting value for clients, staff, and communities.”
