BNP Paribas is set to allocate a dedicated area within its data centers for IBM Cloud services, a strategic move aimed at enhancing operational resilience and complying with the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA).
Since 2019, BNP Paribas has integrated IBM Cloud into its data centers. The planned initiative, slated for rollout in 2028, seeks to bolster the bank’s resilience by ensuring redundant systems for the continuous delivery of vital banking services, including payment processing, while safeguarding customer data and the integrity of information systems.
Expanding its collaboration with IBM will also enable BNP Paribas to leverage advanced GPU capabilities on IBM Cloud, enhancing its cloud infrastructure. This initiative is designed to support business units in exploring and implementing generative AI applications.
Application modernization represents another crucial focus area, utilizing microservices through Red Hat OpenShift, IBM’s Kubernetes container management platform. This approach will facilitate the development of modular, scalable, and portable applications, streamlining the deployment of new solutions, particularly in the realm of payments.
Marc Camus, Chief Information Officer of BNP Paribas, stated, “We are committed to investing in innovative technologies that enhance the resilience of our infrastructure and promote innovation for our clients, employees, and partners. By integrating GPUs as a service with a dedicated, high-tech environment in our data centers and a cloud-native infrastructure, we are solidifying our technological framework while ensuring the security and compliance of our information systems.”
