How Collaborative Competition Fueled Success for AWS and Temenos

During the Temenos Community Forum held in Vienna earlier this year, Finextra had the opportunity to interview Stewart Davies, Global SaaS Commercial Director at Temenos, and Mandeep Sidhu, Global Account Manager for GFS at AWS. The focus of their discussion was on the event’s central theme: “Engage and Grow in a Cloud World.”

Davies highlighted the enduring partnership between Temenos and AWS, which has been instrumental in the development of the Transact core banking system. This collaboration has enabled Temenos to serve financial institutions of various sizes worldwide.

Mandeep Sidhu noted that the success of the AWS and Temenos partnership stems from their shared values. He stated, “We both possess a customer-centric approach that forms the core of our respective cultures. Our aim is to provide not only technological solutions but also to cultivate trust with our clients.”

Sidhu further remarked on AWS’s pioneering role at the intersection of technology and financial services, as evidenced by the introduction of Temenos core banking solutions on the AWS platform. He emphasized that building and maintaining customer trust is fundamental to their operations.

Regarding security concerns, Davies underscored the importance of resilience for banking institutions. He mentioned that customers now expect a robust and reliable service: “Resilience has evolved into a critical requirement for banks; it fundamentally pertains to how services are delivered from both an architectural and technological standpoint.”

He went on to explain that customers demand a seamless, always-available experience and that the manner in which this is achieved is crucial. “One of our primary focuses is on trust, particularly in relation to data management, security, and resilience,” he said.

In closing, Davies asserted that no bank can effectively manage security and governance independently. He pointed out that very few organizations can keep pace with evolving monitoring and technological demands, highlighting the essential role that Temenos plays in facilitating these collaborations.
