Santander has appointed Nitin Prabhu, a seasoned executive from PayPal, as the global head of its Digital Consumer Bank. With an impressive 12-year tenure at PayPal, where he held various senior positions including head of product for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and financial services, Prabhu brings significant expertise to his new role.
In his capacity as the head of Santander’s Digital Consumer Bank, Prabhu will manage the organization’s operations in auto financing and consumer lending, as well as the OpenBank digital financial services division. The Digital Consumer Bank operates across 26 countries in Europe and the Americas, catering to the financing needs of 25 million consumers at the point of sale.
Prabhu is expected to join Santander in early 2025, pending regulatory approval, and will be based in Madrid, reporting directly to group executive chair Ana Botín. Botín expressed her enthusiasm for Prabhu’s appointment, stating, “The Digital Consumer Bank is leading the charge in consumer finance innovation, supported by Santander’s robust global network. Nitin’s strong customer-centric approach and his ability to develop digital products that resonate with client needs will be instrumental in driving the continued profitable growth of our business.”
