Facial recognition company VisionLabs has introduced a new payment terminal that allows shoppers to complete transactions with just a glance.
The VisionLabs Luna POS terminal is designed to accommodate both traditional card transactions and biometric facial recognition payments. For a biometric transaction, the terminal scans the customer’s face and transmits the data to the payment service provider or bank for verification. An advanced algorithm confirms the customer’s identity before authorizing the payment, all while ensuring that the facial data is not stored.
VisionLabs has noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the shift towards contactless payments, with many banks now starting to implement facial recognition technology for online payment authorizations. As a result, the launch of this terminal comes at a timely moment.
