Green fintech company Iceberg Data Lab has introduced a new product that utilizes generative AI technology to generate real-time, text-based, and fully sourced explanations in response to inquiries about the ESG data of portfolio companies.
Named Barbatus, after a nearly extinct bird of prey, the chatbot is designed to extract and present structured information from a vast array of unstructured text within IDL’s extensive dataset, which encompasses over 2,300 different products and services.
Having been in a pilot phase since September, Barbatus emphasizes transparency in the reporting process, providing clients with specific details such as the page number, paragraph, and source from which the chatbot sourced information to answer inquiries.
Matthieu Maurin, co-founder and CEO of Iceberg Data Lab, stated: “As financial institutions show growing interest in ESG issues, the associated reporting frameworks have become increasingly complex. Barbatus addresses these challenges by enabling clients to analyze intricate ESG data more swiftly, transparently, and effectively, allowing them to better understand the environmental impact of their investments while facilitating their transition journeys.”
