A new Visa service allows travelers who lose their wallets to receive a digital card replacement via text or email. According to a Visa report, 74% of US travelers now use digital wallets during their journeys. This digital emergency card replacement service is designed to provide financial institutions with a way to ensure their cardholders have seamless and stress-free experiences worldwide.
When requested, a new digital card is sent on behalf of the issuer for the cardholder to authenticate and add to their digital wallet. Kathleen Pierce-Gilmore, global head of issuing solutions at Visa, stated, “We’ve all felt that moment of panic while on vacation – the loss of a card and the feeling of being stranded. Our new digital emergency card solution addresses these very issues. It offers instant, secure access to funds for travelers while enabling issuers to deliver superior customer service.”
