Adyen Partners with Competitor PayPal to Launch Fastlane in the US

Adyen has entered into an agreement to offer rival PayPal’s Fastlane guest checkout product to its enterprise and marketplace customers in the United States.

Launched earlier this year, Fastlane allows shoppers to save their card and shipping information during their first checkout with participating merchants. This information can then be automatically filled in during future purchases wherever Fastlane is available.

Initially limited to the US, this partnership is expected to expand globally, aiming to enhance the checkout experience for Adyen merchants while extending PayPal’s reach. “The expanded partnership with PayPal further strengthens Adyen’s ability to provide global enterprises with seamless payment flows and top-quality guest shopping experiences,” stated Pieter van der Does, co-CEO of Adyen.

Although both companies compete in the payment processing sector, they have revealed that they have been collaborating for several years, allowing Adyen’s customers to offer PayPal’s services globally, including PayPal, Venmo, and PayPal’s Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) options.
