Visa Collaborates with USAID to Enhance Financial Inclusion Efforts

Visa is collaborating with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to enhance access to digital government and payment systems worldwide.

Under a five-year agreement, the two entities will work on initiatives aimed at helping governments develop and implement platforms that link citizens with local government services. This partnership aims to foster economic development and growth by leveraging strengths in digital government systems, digital payments, and support for constituents and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The initial focus of the collaboration will be on Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Caucasus. Chris Newkirk, global head of news flows for commercial and money movement solutions at Visa, stated, “Through shared interests and goals, Visa and USAID will empower communities with digital and financial literacy and support access to digital systems that will help drive financial inclusion for everyone, everywhere.”
