BNPL provider Klarna has reached an agreement to become the default payment option for Worldpay merchants worldwide.
Worldpay is one of the largest payment service providers globally, processing $2.3 trillion in commerce in 2023 for over a million merchants. With this new arrangement, Klarna will transition from being an alternative payment option, which was offered upon retailer request, to a standard payment method alongside traditional cards.
David Sykes, chief commercial officer of Klarna, stated, “We want Klarna at every checkout, available everywhere, for everything, all the time. This expanded partnership is a massive leap towards that goal, making Klarna the default payment method for hundreds of thousands of retailers.”
