Payments giant Stripe is transitioning to an invite-only model for new clients in India as it develops the necessary infrastructure to navigate an evolving regulatory landscape.
The company has described this move as a “tough decision,” informing Indian businesses that they must now request an invite to access its services. Stripe indicated that due to the current regulatory environment, it cannot guarantee quick launches or seamless onboarding for Indian firms, though it did not specify which regulations are causing these challenges.
“We remain strongly committed to India and are working to enhance our infrastructure to support more users by the second half of 2025,” the company stated.
